the YAS-62 and YTS-62 saxophones withstand the tests of time and competition and have been in a continual state of improvement since the launch of the YAS-61 in 1969. one guy I know routinely gigs a chinese tenor of far less stature then a Bauhaus or Jericho and does just fine (saves the S20 for recording). Yamaha YAS-62III Alto Saxophone : Amazon.ca: Musical Instruments, Stage & Studio. I`m sure the humble Jupiter 567, TJ Rev-II, Elkhart Deluxe Taiwan representitives would see a working Pro many years of service just like "student" american and Czech horns did previously. īut lets get real here, what actually represents a "Pro" horn anyway other than build refinement factor, there are plenty of people making their way and paying their bills with far less than a 62 or 901. I have sold Yamaha horns for years in Colorado Springs and till the 62 came out it was the model we received the most requests from the Air Force Academy Bands and to the colleges looking for 'Pro' horns. everyone has their own views, the 62 always were and still are Pro horns, albeit entry level. If youre looking for a 'Pro' Tenor Sax, and want something older, but still with some technologically advanced features then Yamaha YTS-61s are one of the best choices. I like the Sound from the SX90R, not so fussed on the handling and the whole tone-hole business put me off even more than the price did.
